TEAM NEWS - Cumberland Bandits
1/25/2016

The NCJHL and their members have always been there to help causes that are dear to the different teams in this league, where all teams care not only about hockey, but about other people’s lives as well.

In October of 2015, the daughter of one of the Cumberland Bandits' coaches was diagnosed with the Hodgkin lymphoma disease. The team has launched a campaign to “Fight Hodgkin for our hero Estéphanie”, and with your support, we believe our voice can be stronger.

On January 23, 2016, during their home game against the Académie Jr. de l’Outaouais, the Cumberland Bandits, in association with Lymphoma Canada, will be holding what they hope will be their biggest fundraiser yet. This event will not only help Estéphanie, but the Bandits hope, it will help raise awareness for Hodgkin lymphoma.

Special guests are sure to be in attendance! They include the founder of the Ottawa Senators and the Ottawa Senators Foundation, Dr. Bruce Firestone; the Senators' mascot SpartyCat; former Ottawa Senators player Todd White; the former light heavyweight kickboxing champion the legendary Jean-Yves Thériault; and a member of the Stanley Cup winning Broad Street bullies André “Moose” Dupont.

One of the Board members of Lymphoma Canada, Mr. Alex Beraskow, will be in attendance as well and has already presented the team with a crest that they will permanently wear on their home and away uniforms in honour of their campaign to help Estéphanie. Also available will be peelable crests for all in attendance on the 23rd.

Mark your calendars on Facebook for January 23rd! There will be a 50/50 draw at the door as well as a bracelet sold in support of the cause. You will also be able to make any other donations on the spot. We hope to see you there!

Thank you all for your support!
