CONGLATULATIONS TO EMBRUN PANTHERS on once again becoming the EOJCHL CHAMPIONS!!!

EASTERN ONTARIO JUNIOR HOCKEY SEASON ENDS

- by Richard Charest -

The Emburn Panthers became Champions for the 2009-2010 season Sunday as they defeated the  Rockland Nationals in a strong final series.
The stands were full as fans on both sides enthusiastically cheering for their respective teams.

The Nationals got to the final by defeating the Cumberland Bandits and then the East Ottawa Thunder to earning  their spot.  The Panthers earned their spot by defeating the Vankleek Hill Cougars and the St-Isidore Eagles.

This was not only a great final series but one great season of Hockey where division champions were The Embrun Panthers in  Eastern sector whereas the East Ottawa Thunder earned the western Championship.

In Championship series the Most Valuable Player Award was divided between forward Matt Nooyen (22) and defenseman Derek West (4) of the Embrun Panthers Championship team.

A strong showing of good sportsmanship was in evidence after the game and both sides shook hands and many of the Nationals players stayed on the sidelines as the habitual protocol of handing the banner and trophies were conducted.  True sportsmanship at it’s best in a league where competition is always strong.

Now that the 2009-2010 Season has been etched in stone, every team starts back this week in readying for the 2010-2011 season. All eigth teams must be congratulated and thanked for a wonderful season. Let us not forget the strong support throughout the season from the fans and sponsors who were relentless in supporting  their favourite team and players.
