The regular and playoff season for 2011-2012 is now etched in history....
by Richard Charest
In the quarter finals the Embrun Panthers, Cumberland Bandits, St-Isidore Eagles, and the Rockland Nationals won their respective series eliminating the North Dundas Rockets, Vankleek Hill Cougars, Gatineau Express and the La Pêche Predators respectively.
Games got tighter in the semi finals with the Embrun Panthers winning their series against the Rockland Nationals and the St-isidore Eagles won theirs against the Cumberland Bandits.
As each series moved forward so did the fans in the stands. The final series for the Playoff Championship was no exception as fans from all teams in the league showed up for the final series.
St-Isidore put on a great battle, but the Embrun Panthers with persistence and great goaltending took the Playoff Championship for a fourth consecutive year.
Next season will see some changes in the team rosters as some players have reached the age limit set by Hockey Canada. Some players are moving out of the NCJHL area to pursue their studies and careers, while many others will return. New graduation Minor League players will be joining the NCJHL teams, bringing another dimension to hockey. Players moving into the area will also be looking at joining a NCJHL team.
There is no rest for teams as they are now scheduling their training camps, try outs, etc. for the 2012-2013 season that will be upon us at warp speed.
In order to follow these activities consult the links of teams through the league web site at ww.ncjhl.com
Teams need funding to operate during a season. There are many types of fund raisers that will occur during the summer months. Everyone can help by attending a team’s golf event, BBQ, etc.
Check it out and attend an event or two!
